This book was part of a two-volume set. I wanted the repair to preserve as much of the original character of the book as possible, in case this book ever became reunited with the other one in the set (it went to a different family member). The sewing was still intact and sturdy but the spine had detached from the text block, the corners were worn, and the joints loose.
I rebacked the spine using matching colored brown cloth and adhered the original spine on top. I also rebuilt the corners, reattached the original headbands, and consolidated the frayed ends.
