Although the paper quality of this book was fair, there were many tears and the sewing was very loose. Also, the text block had detached from the case.
The client did a wonderful job of finding the missing back pages, dying new paper to match the age of the rest of the book, and printing on the distressed sheets.
I did a lot of paper mending and also hinged in the new sheets to the text block. I tightened and built up the spine lining and reconstructed the external spine, dying the material in the joints to match the rest of the book on the outside.
