Sometimes a book is beyond repair either because the paper is brittle or because the cost of the work exceeds common sense. In such instances, it is sensible to have a custom box made for the book.
The client wanted a box that would bear the names of the family members who previously owned the book. After setting the type, I used gold foil to stamp the cover of the box.
The book fits snugly in the box, protected from further deterioration.
