A Stamped Clamshell Box for a Family Heirloom

Sometimes a book is beyond repair either because the paper is brittle or because the cost of the work exceeds common sense.  In such instances, it is sensible to have a custom box made for the book.photo(27) photo(28)

The client wanted a box that would bear the names of the family members who previously owned the book.  After setting the type, I used gold foil to stamp the cover of the box.photo(29)photo(30)

The book fits snugly in the box, protected from further deterioration.photo(31)photo(32)
