A New Spine for a Civil War-era Family Bible

This spine had detached from this small bible with the tiniest print. ┬áThe bible had been bound in cloth and significant family dates–weddings, births, deaths–had been recorded wherever there was space on the flyleaf or the margins.photophoto-7I built a new spine using airplane linen and Moriki laminate to insert between the board and the original cloth of the covers. ┬áThe black Moriki matched the color and texture of the original cloth fairly well but I still had to adjust the tone with dyes to make it seamless.photo-4photo-3photo-5photo-6
